Statement of Ethical Principles Adopted December, 2003
Next Steps. Inc. exists for the purpose of promotion and
cultivating the lives of women through empowerment. The team
of Next Steps, Inc. is committed to excellence in the quest of
enhancing those they serve. They acknowledge their obligation
to safeguard that needed resources are diligently sought and
made available for clients.
With these intentions, Next Steps, Inc. embraces certain values
that they aspire to maintain in performing their services.
The team of Next Steps, Inc. will endeavor to:
• Put the mission of Next Steps, Inc. above personal gain;
• Encourage others to aspire to their God given destiny;
Continue the pursuit of excellence through education that
others (clients) may be benefited in the process thereof;
• Act according to the utmost standards and mission of the
organization, profession, and principles;
• Treat all those whom we serve with the utmost dignity and
respect;
• Avoid even the slightest appearance of any criminal offence
or professional misconduct;
• Respect the freedom of choice and decisions of those we will
serve;
• Adhere to the allegiance, of as well as the letter of, all
applicable laws and;
• Encourage fellow team members to embrace and uphold
these principles.
Standards of Professional Practice
While striving to maintain and act according to the values
indicated above, the team of Next Steps, Inc. shall consent to
abide by the Next Steps, Inc. Code of Ethics which shall be
adopted and incorporated as the Next Steps, Inc. Standards of
Professional Practice Code. Any violation of these standards
shall be cause for immediate dismissal.
• The team or any person directly associated with Next Steps,
Inc. shall not engage in any activities that harm the integrity
of the organization, clients, or the profession of counseling
and client well- being.
• The team or any person directly associated with Next Steps,
Inc. shall in no way exploit the clients for personal gain nor
the gain of the organization.
• The team or any person directly associated with Next Steps,
Inc. shall not engage in activities that conflict with ethical
and/or legal obligations of the organization or the clients.
• The team or any person directly associated with Next Steps,
Inc. shall comply with any applicable local, state, federal, or
civil laws.
• The team of Next Steps, Inc. shall not engage in any sexual
harassment or activity with any client, or other person
directly associated with the agency, until at least two years
are expended.
Presentation of Information
• The team of Next Steps, Inc. shall be required to disclose
services to be rendered at the initial appointment thus,
allowing the client to make a choice.
• The team of Next Steps, Inc. shall practice with integrity,
honesty, candor, and adherence to maintaining the
confidence and trust of those we will serve;
• The team of Next Steps, Inc. shall not disclose confidential or
privileged information to unauthorized parties except by
written consent of the client. The client shall also be informed
of exceptions by laws (child abuse, threat of harm to self or
others, etc.).
• The team of Next Steps, Inc. shall not at any time discriminate
against any client or person associated directly or indirectly
with this organization based on age, race, ethnic background,
religion, or sexual orientation.
• The team of Next Steps, Inc. shall not present any information
that extends beyond their knowledge or/and training. In such
instances a referral shall be made.
• The team of Next Steps, Inc. shall be required to disclose
required fees (if any) at the initial appointment.
